CORONA HAS PREVENTED A LOT OF US FROM GETTING TOGETHER THE WAY WE WOULD LIKE. TO COUNTERACT THIS, THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT IS PUTTING TOGETHER A SCHOOL-WIDE PROJECT CALLED THE "DMA VIRTUAL NATIONAL ANTHEM" CADETS FROM EVERY SPORTING TEAM, CLUB AND ORGANIZATION WILL BE VIDEOTAPED AND COMPILED TOGETHER INTO A SPECIAL RECORDING TO BE USED AT EVENTS WHEN LIVE SINGING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ISN'T POSSIBLE. IT WILL BE A WAY FOR US TO REMEMBER 2020 FOR YEARS TO COME. WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE BIGGEST AND BRIGHTEST AT DMA, EVEN IF YOU DON'T NORMALLY SING. SHOW YOUR DMA PRIDE AND SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE. Due to COVID-19, the DMA Choir will not be performing / rehearsing in Fall 2020.
This difficult decision was made with the safety of our cadets in mind.
Our aim is to resume meeting, rehearsing and performing as soon as possible.
Performance Policy
Performances in the music world are similar to the "championship game" in the sports world: We work hard together (as a 'team') to prepare for the event. For this reason, DMA choir performances are mandatory for members and cadets receive a Summative grade for participating.
Performance dates are put on the calendar well in advance. Cadets are expected to plan to be in attendance at all performances (this might include asking in advance for time off from a job)
Any cadet who misses a performance needs to submit an alternative assignment in order to fulfill the credit requirements of the class. (Excused absences that don't require the alternative assignment include: 1. A conflict with another DMA event (like an event or game ie., not practice) 2. A conflict with a music performance with a community group (not a practice). Both require a parent email confirming the conflict. Any other absences, for whatever reason, require the make-up assignment. This can be submitted up until the final week grades are due for the semester.
Cadets can choose from one of the three following assignments:
