Piano Fundamentals


this course begins with the basics and is designed for cadets with no prior formal piano / music study.    the Class focuses on  all aspects of playing the piano, including  reading music, music history, music theory, and music notation.   

During this course, cadets learn  the basics of piano technique and music theory, including musical notation, note duration, the staff, major scales, and some  beginning key signatures.     

​ "piano INTERMEDIATE class" is available for cadets who have successfully completed "Piano fundamentals " 

​Mrs. harkey workS with cadets in group lessons, as well as one-on-one.  By the end of this course, each cadet will be able to look at a musical score and be able to play it on the piano, as well as have the tools needed to be able to transfer learned musical knowledge to other instruments and ensembles such as choir or band.   

This course provideS each cadet with their own keyboard, stand, and bench.  Cadets should supply their own set of wired earbuds.
All musical equipment stayS in the music room.     ​
