This course focuses on all aspects of playing the piano, including reading music, music theory, and music notation.
"Piano Fundamentals" is for cadets who are interested in learning how to read music and apply that knowledge to the keyboard. During this course, cadets will learn the basics of piano technique and music theory, including musical notation, note durations, the staff, major and minor scales, and key signatures.
Mrs. harkey will work with cadets in group lessons, as well as providing individual lesson time during class. Cadets work at their own pace using the provided piano lesson and theory books. By the end of this course, each cadet will be able to look at a musical score and be able to play it on the piano, as well as have the tools needed to be able to transfer learned musical knowledge to other instruments, choirs, etc.
This course will provide each cadet with their own keyboard, stand, bench, and set of headphones (in-class use only). All musical equipment must stay at school. Books and materials can be signed out to take home.

This course focuses on the basics of "Theatre arts". Cadets will use improvisation, stage direction, dialogue, memorization, and various acting skills to learn what it is like to be an actor on stage, as well learning what goes on behind the scenes of a production. This course will touch on the production side of theater, such as directing, casting, producing, stage-managing, and the art of publicizing. Cadets will dissect the aspects of a musical and a play and will watch and critique during the course in class.
This course is not audition based. anyone is welcome and encouraged to participate! Cadets will leave this class with confidence to perform and/or speak in public. They will gain leadership skills and exercise creativity as they write, direct and perform original scenes and skits created during class.
This course will allow cadets to step out of their comfort zone and experiment with acting and improvisational techniques. This is a performance-based course.
