Performances in the music world are similar to the "championship game" in the sports world: We work hard together (as a 'team') to prepare for the event. For this reason, DMA choir performances are mandatory for members and cadets receive a Summative grade for participating. Performance dates are put on the calendar well in advance. Cadets are expected to plan to be in attendance at all performances (this might include asking in advance for time off from a job)
Any cadet who misses a performance needs to submit an alternative assignment (see choices listed below) in order to fulfill the credit requirements of the class.
Excused absences that don't require the alternative assignment include: 1. A conflict with another DMA event (like an event or game ie., not practice) 2. A conflict with a music performance with a community group (not a practice). Both require a parent email confirming the conflict. Any other absences require the make-up assignment.
The make-up assignment can be submitted up until the final week grades are due for the semester.
