This performance-based course focuses on the basics of "Theatre arts". Cadets study improvisation, stage direction,dialogue, memorization, and various acting techniques to learn what it is like to be an actor on stage. They learn about show production and learn about what goes on behind the scenes including directing, casting, producing, stage-managing, and public relations.
Cadets will learn about musical theater and theatrical critique . Depending on what is available, most classes travel to one local theatrical performance.
This course is not audition based, but cadets are expected to perform. Cadets will leave this class with experience performing in front of a live audience. They will gain leadership skills and exercise creativity as they write, direct and perform original scenes.
This course will allow cadets to step out of their comfort zone and experiment with acting and improvisational techniques.
