This performance-based class focuses on the basics of theater. Cadets study improvisation, stage direction, monologues and various acting techniques such as "tableau" and learn what it is like to be an actor on stage. Cadets learn about show production and what goes on behind the scenes (costume, make-up, set design, casting / auditions, etc). The class will touch on musical theater and receive a cursory knowledge of musical history. The class is not audition-based, but cadets are expected to perform. Cadets will leave this class with experience performing in front of a live audience and gain leadership and public speaking skills.
Depending on availability, most classes take a field trip to attend at least one live, local performance.
Both cadets and parents should download the BAND app and join separately in order to stay current with class deadlines. Most home/school communication and announcements for this class are done through the BAND app. (Parents/Guardians: Please use your full name, but reference your cadet's last name (in parenthesis) if it differs from yours.)
